"Electric power is the backbone of our nation. This is the main infrastructural factor, spawning overall industrial growth. The power system provides power for industrial and domestic needs."

B.TECH - ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

The EEE Department offers B. Tech Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering of the University of Calicut, approved by AICTE. Its first B. Tech batch graduated in 2011. The Department is equipped with seven full-fledged Laboratories along with a Department Library and a Seminar Hall. The laboratories have modern equipment and the latest software. Triple E, as the department is fondly called, is the field to be in for those who love working with electrical systems - ranging from large power generators to the smallest of microchips. This stream involves design, manufacture, installation, operation and management of electrical systems that underpin modern economies and contribute to improving the quality of life. The course curriculum also includes a part of Electronics and deals with communication microprocessors, Digital & Analog Electronics giving the student a wide range to excel in. Further, the ever-growing need for power and integration of utilities into national grids brings in complexities that today's electrical engineers should be equipped to meet.

OBJECTIVES OF THE EEE DEPARTMENT
  • To develop graduates with a good foundation in the fundamental and practical aspects of Engineering Sciences so as to build successful and enriching careers in the field of Electrical Engineering and related areas.
  • To impart additional technical skills so that the graduates will be confident enough to develop their basic design projects into an end product beneficial to the society.
